BEIJING, March 2, 2017 -- Beijing Shareco Technologies Co., Ltd. (Shareco) announced in Beijing Wednesday that in early MarchShareco will complete the modification of the first two planes of Hainan Airlines to realize in-flight connectivity (IFC), providing Internet access for passengers for free.

This move indicates Shareco's kickoff of its in-flight WIFI layout, which also allows Hainan Airlines to be among the first group of airline companies that make IFCpossible. Passengers who take the two A330 planescan access the Internet on aboard with only basic registrations. Sharecowill provide self-developed AirBox tabletsto passengers in need, as cellphones are prohibited on board in Chinese flights.

Sharecoannounced in January that itplans to invest one billion RMB (about 152.7 million USD) into the modification project in the coming two years, adding WIFI to 100 planes, including Hainan Airlines, Captical Airlines and Yangtze River Airlines. The modification of the two A330 aircrafts is the first step, and 32 aircrafts modification in total this year will be accomplished. B787-9 aircraft, B737 aircraft, A330 and A320 aircraft are in the modification list. Shareco will also start operation of e-commerce in flight, opening the curtain of the Internet era for China Civil Aviation.

“Shareco provides IFC for free, because we hope to build an IFC platform, providing customers more interesting Internet experience on board, which is a selling point to distinguish Shareco and other in-flight WIFI providers” according to Pan Yunbin, CEO of Shareco.

As the most efficient modern transportation method connecting different continents, civil aviation completely changed the way people travel and live over the past several decades. But for various reasons, the aircraft cabin is still an untouched place for connectivity, and passengers on board are isolated from the information world. Shareco is to work together with other airline companies to build “Oasis” on board and generate happiness in flight.
