Shareco to add WIFI to 100 Hainan Airlines' planes
BEIJING, January 14, 2016 -- Hainan Airlines and Beijing Shareco Technologies Co., Ltd. (Shareco) announced in Beijing Thursday that in the coming two years Shareco will start to add WIFI to 100 planes of Hainan Airlines, providing Internet access for passengers.
Shareco, China's first in-flight connectivity solution and Internet-related service provider, plans to invest one billion yuan in this project, according to Pan Yunbin, CEO of Shareco.
Pan said that Shareco will continue to work together with China's Internet giants, including Sina, Alibaba, Baidu, Tencent, to provide content more suitable for airplane passengers and provide each of them customized content according to their preference through AirBox, a smart terminal designed and produced by Shareco.
The AirBoxs, which have currently developed to the third-generation, AirBox 380, has been allocated to over 200 planes, covering over 800 air routes.
XuFei, general manager of the cabin service department at Hainan Airlines, told the press conference that Hainan Airlines will focus on creating a brand new cabin ecosystem, referring to the interaction between passengers, crew members and their Internet connecting facilities by cooperating with Shareco.
